Hammermills
The rugged construction of these mills has been their Trademark from when they were originally produced by Arthur Collins & Son. The base and top consists of heavy castings with thick plate on the sides, this ensures that these hammer-mills will have many years of service in tough conditions.
The hopper castings are designed so that the flow of the material is continuously returned to the grinding edges of the tips. All platework are being lazer cut since September 2008 for accuracy and uniformity. All parts can be replaced when worn. All parts are bolted together to avoid failure due to metal fatigue as a result of vibration. Our mills are supplied with two screens of the clients choice, screen sizes range from as fine as 0.8mm – 20mm. ( Larger diameters are available on request )
The ease of operation, long life span and efficiency make them the first choice both in Africa and many other countries. Drive options include electric, diesel, petrol & PTO drive. ( The PTO options are limited to the 47, 57 & 69 Mills. ) All mills are capable of milling products that are below 13 % moisture content and break on impact. Eight models of hammer-mills are supplied namely:
BABY
This is the smallest of the range and is popular for home industries. They are used mainly in the Spice, Herbs & Maize Milling . They are also used in Industry for milling light industrial products such as Foam, Plastics etc. Drive options include Electric, Diesel & Petrol.
SIZE 1 & 1 ½
Both these models are the same size in height, the 1 ½ is however wider which gives more production. They are available in “Plain” and “Blower” option. “Plain” - The milled product passes through the mill and straight into the bag. “Blower” - The milled product passes through the mill and is moved via a blower into a cyclone where it is then bagged off from a two way bagging attachment. The blower is more necessary when been used in a milling station. These mills as with the Baby mill are popular in the Spices Industry as well as as in grain milling and in smaller feed mills.
SIZE 47,57,69
These units are used mainly in Industry and Commercial Farming. They are larger than the previous mentioned mills, this allows a larger raw product to be fed. Products that are milled include: In Industry - Plastics, Fertilizer, Aluminum foil, Brake Linings etc. In Farming - Maize, Soya, Alfalfa etc. These are to name but a few. These mills are available in “Plain” or “Blower” options dependant on product been milled.
SIZE L63
With an intake opening able to accommodate rectangular balls of hay or alfalfa the L63 also has a shredder option for round bales to be introduced in 2009.
MAMMOTH
The Mammoth is the latest to have been added to the Hippo line and has been manufactured for only approximately 15 years. This unit is high for production and manages large raw particle intake of materials. The Mammoth have already proven itself in Industry and are used in Foam, Brake lining & Timber plants. Paper for cellulose and the milling down of woodchips are favourite applications as are high capacity milling of maize, sorghum and CSB extrusions. They are available in “Plain” & “Blower”. The Blower option has a separate suction blower so the air flow may be increased depending of the distance the product will be moved over. Intake and outlets can be made to requirement.
